The location of La Magdalena is fantastic! It’s close enough to the vibrant streets of Getsemani but offers a quieter atmosphere, making it easy to explore nearby restaurants and cafes. I appreciated the cleanliness of the room. The staff were lovely and helpful, even accommodating a room change when the noise from the street became too much. However, even in the new room, I could hear conversations from the neighboring room, which was quite bothersome. The bed was solid and not particularly comfortable, leading to some discomfort, and I found the pillows quite disappointing too. Showers only offered cold water, which was manageable in warm weather, but still less than ideal. The air conditioning worked well and helped keep the room cool. Overall, it was an acceptable stay, but improvements to soundproofing and bedding quality would go a long way.

During my stay, I experienced several frustrations. The bed was extremely firm, which led to discomfort and a sore back on waking. Additionally, there was only cold water in the shower, making it a less pleasant experience given the heat outside. To add to the woes, the noise levels were disruptive, with conversations from neighboring rooms audible at night, preventing a good night's sleep.

This place was just an excellent fit for a brief pause in Cartagena with all in all brilliant value for money. The air conditioning worked great and kept my room nice and cool, which was a relief from the heat outside. If you’re sensitive to noise, bring earplugs for sleeping.
